Libération revealed that two of the men were black and one of North African descent and are known to the police for acts of violence, thefts and drug trafficking. It is thought that as many as 6,000 French Jews will be leaving for Israel and many others to Canada, the United States and elsewhere.

The prosecution linked the attack to one on a 70-year-old Jewish man who was badly beaten at his Creteil home on November 10 by three men who had referred to his being Jewish during the attack.
